Questions
What is VNportal?
VNportal is a browser-based vinyl and music platform: find a record in the MusicBrainz database, play it, mix it on two decks, and create with AI music tools — no install, no hardware, no Spotify Premium. It also charts a rhythm game from a track's detected beats and generates single instruments locked to a tempo. It is built by Richael (dh8116) in Auckland, New Zealand, and is in early access.
Where does VNportal's record data come from?
Find Vinyl searches MusicBrainz, the open music encyclopedia, with cover art from the Cover Art Archive. Anything you find can be added to your Exhibit, your personal vinyl gallery, or you can press your own record from tracks you choose.
Do I need Spotify Premium to use VNportal?
No. Connecting a free Spotify account works, and playback falls back across other sources, including Audius and Jamendo, so you can play and mix without Premium.
What can I do in the DJ mixer?
Recreation is a two-deck DJ mixer in the browser: BPM and key detection, crossfader, loop and cue points, and an FX chain with reverb, flanger and chorus. It runs on the Web Audio API, so there is nothing to install.
What are VNportal's AI music tools?
Song Studio has an AI arrangement advisor and a beat sequencer, and can generate a single instrument — drums, bass or a lead — locked to the bars of the tempo you set, or a whole band that agrees on tempo. Lyrics are time-synced from lrclib.
Is VNportal free?
VNportal is free to start in early access. The first 100 members get a permanent Founding Co-Creator badge and a month of Pro free.
Who makes VNportal?
VNportal is built by Richael (dh8116), a Year 11 student in Auckland, New Zealand, who also builds the AI companion app Soulor AI and writes GPU kernels in Triton.
